Apple Spice Iced Latte

Delight in this crisp iced latte during the autumn months (or any time of year for apple lovers!). We recommend preparing this with a strong, rich espresso that can balance the sweetness of the apple spice flavors, such as Espresso Barista Gran Crema or Super Crema, or easily prepared with your favorite capsules! We’ve also included instructions below for a hot latte variation, perfect for cool fall mornings.

Ingredients:

  • 1oz/30ml Apple Spice Syrup (see recipe below)
  • 1oz/30ml Espresso
  • 5oz/150ml Milk of choice
  • Ice
  • Optional: Whipped cream, cinnamon, and/or caramel syrup for garnish

Equipment:

Procedure:

  1. Place the apple spice syrup in your glass.
  2. Pour the milk into the glass, stir to combine with the syrup.
  3. Add ice to the glass, leaving enough room for the espresso.
  4. Brew one shot of espresso and pour over the contents of the glass.
  5. Garnish as desired, and enjoy!

Variations:

Make it hot: using a milk frother or French press, you can achieve a perfect milk foam to top your latte.

Procedure:

  1. Place the apple spice syrup in a mug or heatproof glass.
  2. Brew one capsule of espresso and mix with the syrup.
  3. Heat the milk to about 150-160F (65-70C).
  4. Froth the milk using your milk frother or French press to create a layer of foam.
  5. Pour the milk gently over the syrup and espresso.
  6. Garnish as desired, and enjoy!

Apple Spice Syrup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups/16oz Apple Cider
  • 1 cup/200g Sugar (brown or white)
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • Optional: Pinch of salt, other fall spices (allspice, nutmeg, cloves)

Equipment:

  • Pot
  • Whisk

Procedure:

  1. Combine the cider, sugar, cinnamon sticks, and any other ingredients in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Reduce to a simmer for 5-10 minutes (or until it’s your desired texture and strength).
  4. Remove the cinnamon sticks and pour into a bottle or jar.
  5. Add to your favorite coffee recipe and enjoy!
  6. The syrup can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
